The Better Email has come to an end.

After six years of educating thousands of email marketers and developers, The Better Email has come to its end. There are a few reasons why:

  1. Life gets complicated and busy and I simply don't have the time or energy to keep resources up-to-date.
  2. The founder of the platform which I've used to sell products up until now, Gumroad, has joined up with Elon Musk and DOGE, and is actively participating in the illegal dismantling of the US government and the services millions of people rely on to live their lives. I cannot support that by giving him money to enable a lifestyle where he can do that work.
  3. Moving platforms is time-consuming. I don't have time or energy to take on that work. See point one.
  4. The email design and marketing landscape has changed since The Better Email was first released. Most tools people use to send emails have good-to-excellent templates that make designing attractive, accessible campaigns relatively easy. As such, sales of The Better Email have been slowing down over the past couple years and it's not worth it to keep it going anymore.

Point two is the big driver, though. I often feel helpless in the face of all the bad stuff that's going on in the world. Especially at the hands of Donald Trump, Elon Musk, and all of the people enabling them to decimate imperfect but essential institutions. The one thing (seemingly the only thing) all of their ilk understand and truly care about is money. While The Better Email contributes an exceedingly small fraction to Sahil Lavingia's wealth, it's still something I can control. Enough small actions, taken together, can change things in a big way. I encourage you to find and take your own small actions to make the world a better place.

While I will no longer be updating or selling The Better Email guides, I recognize they can still provide some utility for folks who want to learn more about email design, development, and accessibility. If you'd like to access the PDFs, you can do so below, for free. Just keep in mind that they haven't been updated in some time, so some information might be outdated and some links may not work.

I want to thank everyone who has bought, shared, and otherwise supported The Better Email over the years. I'm happy to have had the opportunity to help improve your work. And I'm eternally grateful for your support improving the lives of me and my family.

Cheers,
Jason Rodriguez
